Connacht Open 2012: Sinead Chambers slaughters Rachael Darragh to secure Women?s Singles title
Sinead Chambers, the ace shuttler from Ireland, put up superb show of top class badminton and won the Women?s Singles title after crushing her un-seeded team-mate Rachael Darragh in the final contest of Connacht Open 2012 on Sunday, October 7, in Ireland.
The spirited Chambers, who was the top seeded shuttler in Women?s Singles draw of the tournament, continued her roller-coaster run on court and easily claimed the title without even putting in extra effort.
Chambers played with remarkable precision on court as she did not spare any chance for her rival to put up strong show and eventually thrashed Rachael in straight games with a one-sided margin in just 24 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Rachael could not play her normal game as she lost her control over the pace of rallies and eventually bowed down to Chambers with a huge difference on score board.
The first game of this final contest was shocking for the un-seeded Rachael who remained unable to respond the powerful smashes of her opponent and watched points slipping from her hands.
On the other hand, Chambers got a wonderful start as she played with tremendous precision and eventually took an incredible lead until the end of first half.
After the mid-game interval, Chambers continued showing up her remarkable performance without showing mercy to Rachael.
Chambers stayed in command throughout the concluding half of opening game and she easily managed to end it up in a spectacular manner with a crushing 21-6 margin on the score board.
In the second set, Rachael showed a little improvement in her speed and also played attacking badminton which kept her close to her higher ranked challenger at the early stage.
However, Chambers changed her tactics and started to employ variations in her shots and managed a comfortable gap until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Chambers progressed with an incredible speed on score board and she easily finished up the second set in a striking fashion by an impressive 21-11 score on the board.
Chambers won the final contest in an inspiring manner against Rachael with a spectacular margin of 21-6 and 21-11.
